His hair-plate culture is growing the fungus Trichophyton terrestre.



Occurring as a skin parasite, or dermatophyte on man and animals, the genus Trichophyton is characterized by colorless spores that can cause “ringworm”, a condition called Tinea corporis, usually in immunocompromised patients.
